IB Personal Project (17 Soundtrack Vignettes)

IB Music Project

17 Soundtrack Vignettes

As part of a Personal Project class, I created and documented the process of creating 17 songs for film and video games. Here, I have gathered all 17 1-minute songs in a single place where you can see all of them sorted by the scene. I will be fleshing many of these out into full songs and releasing them on an EP. I took a lot of inspiration (without knowing for the first half of the songs) from Ólafur Arnalds, especially in the intimacy and epicness of the sound, and yet how soft the sound remains. This was a very large project, but I managed to just about make a song per hour of work. I'm quite proud of how many of them turned out, and this is really where I defined my sound as a composer. I definitely took strides in 'humanizing' the instruments, that is, that I actually performed many of the instruments and added mistakes to make them sound as if they were actually played.
